More Details On The NeoGeo X, Peripherals, Price etc

The NeoGeo X first cropped up very early this year and I posted what little info was available here. Just recently some more details have emerged on the dedicated website, including some pics of its peripherals. The handheld itself will cost $129.99, but when you buy the gold package for $199.99 you get a NeoGeo styled docking station and joystick thrown in to the bundle. The docking station plugs directly into your TV and it looks as though your handheld slots right into the top.

You’ve got to admit, that’s a pretty sweet idea. Still no word on the hardware inside the handheld, but I would be surprised to find that it’s anything other than an Ingenic JZ47* providing mediocre to good emulation of some old games.  If that’s the case, and going by the catastrophic failure that was the GameGadget (also co-developed and distributed by Blaze) then I haven’t all that much hope for this device. If, however, they’ve scaled down the actual NeoGeo hardware and made the device natively compatible with its games then they’d be on to a sure fire winner. There is still no release date, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
