Not so obscure perhaps, but certainly something to bear in mind while you’re perusing Chinese sites looking for a cheap and cheerful tablet. It really looks like Google and Asus achieved something great with this tab.

JXD S5100 Deluxe Edition Coming Soon To Willgoo
To say JXD borrowed elements of the design from Nintendo would be an understatement, but fair play to them – the finished product looks very slick indeed. Sporting a 5″ 800×480 capacitive touchscreen and the usual AMLogic M3 SoC that JXD seem to favour, this Android 2.3 handheld would be almost the perfect machine aside …
A Look Inside The MK802 Factory
Here’s a video, courtesy of Charbax, showing a look around the factory manufacturing the cases and assembling the finished device. Towards the end of the video he interrogates the sales manager with all the grace and charm of a bull in a China shop… Check it.

MK802 Is A Tiny Android 4.0 Media Centre For Your TV
I just stumbled across this delightful little box of tricks and although it isn’t quite in keeping I thought I’d share it anyway. Android set top boxes (or media players if you prefer) are nothing new, but I’ve never seen one quite so small and pleasing on the eye. I wanted one as soon as I saw …

Yinlips YDPG16 Review
Android handhelds are being churned out of busy Chinese factories at an alarming rate. At times it seems like a new model is being announced every week, keeping up with the latest and greatest would be a cripplingly expensive hobby. So before we all jump on the capacitive screen and Android 4.0 bandwagon let us stop, take a step back and have a proper look at one of the more interesting current models.
Here Come The Capacitive Screens…
In one of the first useful upgrades in this ever lasting stream of almost identical Android handhelds, Yinlips and JXD have both announced new players sporting capacitive screens. Lots of people have been including this in their wishlist for “the perfect Android handheld” so there should be a few smiling faces upon hearing this news. …
JXD S601 In Depth…
I found this on Youtube yesterday and thought it was quite informative. At least it’s the best demo video we have of the device so far. Thanks to BAFelton for making it.
JXD Jump On The Android Bandwagon
JXD S7100
The first is the JXD S7100 which surfaced online a few weeks ago. At the time I was too unimpressed to bother posting anything about it, but I’ll bundle it into this thread for those few that haven’t already seen it elsewhere. I’m assuming that JXD modelled this thing on what the Nintendo WiiU controller is supposed to look like, because otherwise I cannot fathom a reason for making a handheld so big and bizarre looking. It’s pretty much an 800×480 7″ Android 2.2 tablet with some rudimentary gaming buttons slapped onto the front. Spec lists report it as running on an ARM Cortex A9 clocked at 1Ghz (don’t hold me to it) coupled with ARM’s Mali-400 3D GPU, which is also widely used in smartphones and budget tablets. Read on for pics and videos…
